The Citaro is the successor to the highly popular MB O 405 - family. Citaros have now appeared into the traffic of the Helsinki City Region, mainly on city center routes. The fully low floored Citaro body has one small step at the back door, so it is not quite as completely low floored as the Scania Omnicity. The Citaro does have a rather flat floor (no podesters), so it does have over 50 standing places in return for the smaller amount of seats. With a 2+2+2 door configuration both of these models are clearly meant for short city-centre and feeder routes.

The Citaro is a rather nice bus to ride, inspite of its rather hard suspension which is caused by the small moving area allowed for the suspension in a chassis of this type. The interior decoration is a smooth grey colour and the stop-buttons are of a rather interesting shape. An interesting detail is the fact that the Citaro has no normal roof hatches, in an emergency, separate pieces of the roof are removed to uncover the hatches.

The small engine used in the Citaro represents a positive trend toward environmental friendlyness in diesel buses. In addition to the advanced engine the Citaro uses a liquid crystal display to show open doors and faults.
