The Lahti 402 was among the first mass produced low entry buses in Finland entering active service in 1993. It is the first (and only) low floored model to be produced by Lahden autokori and is made of aluminium like all other Lahti buses. A multitude of different versions of the 402 exist, ranging from low-entry to fully low floored solutions used by Pohjolan liikenne and built on the Scania N 94 UB (Omnicity) chassis. The 402 is easy to recognize by its front mask, air intake hump and curved sides.

The 402 is usually fitted with comfortable well cushioned seats with high backrests. In general this bus offers a smooth ride, depending on the driver of course. Special luxury is offered by the 402s owned by Keskuslinja, which are fitted with air conditioning.
